How I Became My Own Hero | Linkedin Article

As Erica worked her way from middle management to the executive table, she studied her male and female peers, most more than a decade older than herself. One thing became apparent-while women were contributing at the table; men owned the table. The difference: which character they were playing. In men's heads, they acted as if every moment was a page in their story; that they were writing the chapters, and they owned their book. For women, they acted as if they were a character contributing to a larger story, a chapter in a bigger book. Both are true. But, when you contribute to stories, you are boxed into being a role player. When you're the hero of your story, you make the larger story stronger.
